Teen robbers try to steal bags and a puppy from tram passengers

Teenage robbers threatened a group of tram passengers in a bid to steal their bags and a puppy at Stretford Metrolink stop.

Police said the attempted robbery happened at around 5.45pm on Tuesday, February 3.

The victims - a man and two women - were standing at the stop when they were approached by three teenage boys.

The teens demanded their bags and other belongings, including a French bulldog puppy.

The offenders left empty handed, leaving the victims uninjured but 'shaken'.

The thugs were then seen getting on a bus on nearby Edge Lane.

Police described the offenders as white and between the ages of 14 and 18.

At the time of the incident, they were wearing dark coloured clothes and their hoods up.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Stretford.


"At around 5.45pm on Tuesday, February 3, police were called to reports of a robbery at Stretford tram stop.

"An investigation was launched and officers established that a male and two women were threatened by three men, who demanded their bags and other belongings – including a French Bulldog puppy.

"No one was injured but they were, understandably, left shaken."
