Teen 'robbed by youths carrying replica gun' in Carlow as gardai investigate

A Garda investigation has been launched after a young teen has their mobile phone robbed by a group of thugs alleged to have used a replica gun during the incident.

A 16-year-old was the victim of the robbery, which occurred in Co Carlow at around 9pm last night.

The young male was threatened by a group of youths walking on the Burrin Road, who ordered him to hand over his phone.

And it's alleged that a gun or replica was used in the robbery.

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardai in Carlow are investigating the robbery of a mobile phone from a 16-year-old male youth in Carlow Town on Tuesday 27 April 2021.

"It’s understood that shortly after 9pm the youth was threatened and ordered to hand over his phone by a group of youths while walking at River Burrin, Carlow.

"It’s reported that a gun or replica was produced during the incident.

"The youth left the scene unharmed and contacted Gardaí. All of the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
