Teen reports to face lese majeste charge

Akkarasorn Opilan, the niece of Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, reported to the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) on Thursday to answer a lese majeste charge.

The 17-year-old was accompanied by her lawyer, Krisadang Nutcharat.

The charge against Ms Akkarasorn was related to a Feb 13 social media post concerning clashes between police and anti-government protesters in front of the Criminal Court.

The post disappeared but not before it was captured by netizens.

A support group for victims of cyberbullying, led by Naengnoi Asvakittikorn and Noppadol Promprasit, later lodged a complaint against Ms Akkarasorn with the TCSD accusing her of violating the lese majeste law.

Thursday's meeting with the TCSD police was postponed from last week.
