A teenager in Tasmania has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 51-year-old man who died in hospital from significant head injuries.

Bradon Eugene Kelleher, 19, appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday over the alleged attack on March 10 at Sorell in the state's south.

He pleaded not guilty to murder and is expected to appear in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on July 19.

The man died at the Royal Hobart Hospital on Saturday night, with police saying he suffered significant head injuries.

Kelleher, who has been remanded in custody, was charged with murder the following day.
