16 & Pregnant star Jordan Cashmyer's dad and stepmom have been granted custody of their granddaughter Lyla a year after Jordan's death.
The former TV star died after a drug overdose aged just 26.
She died on 15 January 2022, just months after the father of her youngest daughter passed away due to the same reason.
Jordan’s dad Dennis and stepmother Jessica filed for the guardianship of their granddaughter Lyla Schaffer on 28 January 2022.
It was reported that a Maryland court officially appointed Dennis and Jessica as guardians of Lyla on 23 September 2022.
It's thought that Lyla was primarily in her grandparent's care since her mother's passing.
According to social media, Lyla appears to have been primarily in their care since Jordan’s passing.
The U.S. Sun reported the autopsy report revealed Jordan's cause of death as fentanyl, despropionyl fentanyl and cocaine intoxication.
She was found dead in her Westminster, Maryland apartment.
The autopsy report revealed there was what 'appeared to be a needle puncture' on her right arm, however needle tracks were not observed.
She was also described as 'well-nourished' when she died but the manner of death was not determined.
It was noted by the coroner that Jordan had not been drinking alcohol at the time of her death.
Dennis and Jessica set up a GoFundMe page following Jordan's death to support Lyla.
On the page they wrote: "Our daughter Jordan tragically lost her life on January 15, 2022, at the age of 26. Leaving behind a sweet little 6-month-old girl. Addiction plagues many families, and our family was not immune to it. Jordan was always so full of life and full of personality.
"She had a way of always making those around her laugh and smile, and her smile was truly contagious. Our family is heartbroken, and we will forever miss Jordan. We are now faced with the grim outcome that our granddaughter that we have been raising will never get to make memories with her mother or father, never getting to know them."
Jordan's fiancé and Lyla's father passed away by the same cause on 9 September 2021.
A Maryland coroner's office revealed the cause of death was heroin, cocaine and fentanyl intoxication and the manner was undetermined.
Michael’s obituary said that Michael was an 'extremely loyal and devoted father, partner, son, brother and friend. He was a bright light in the lives of everyone he knew, and he brought great joy and warmth to everyone he met with his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and his generous and respectful nature.
"He had a profound passion for his work and career as a chef, both at home cooking for family as well as at work in world-class fine dining restaurants. Michael was also a spiritual man, and he believed in the virtue of loving people unconditionally. He will be missed forever."
