Teen left badly injured on street after gang attack as gardai arrest three

A teenager was left badly injured on a Longford street after a gang attack last week.

The boy was allegedly robbed and struck a number of times on St Mels Road on Friday evening at 7pm.

An ambulance was called to the scene and treated the teen on the street - however his injuries are not life threatening.

Gardai later arrested three male teens in connection with the incident.

All have been released with files being prepared for the DPP.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery which occurred on St Mels Road, Longford, yesterday evening at approximately 7:00pm.

"A male in his teens was treated at the scene by ambulance services for non-life threatening injuries received during the incident.  Three male teens were arrested in relation to this and detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

"The three males have been released pending submission of a file to the DPP. Investigation is ongoing."
