A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Woodlawn on the South Side.
He was standing on a corner about 1:13 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Maryland Avenue when someone pulled up in a vehicle and fired five to six shots at him, Chicago police said.
The teen was struck twice in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released detail on the death.
No arrests have been reported. Area One detectives are investigating.
Last month, three people were wounded in a shooting blocks away in the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue.
