Teen hospitalised after burglary in the middle of the night

A teenager was taken to hospital with a head injury after an aggravated burglary in Bristol.

The 19-year-old man, who has not been named, was in the house in Barton Hill in the early hours of Wednesday morning, when two men allegedly tried to break in.

Neighbours told Bristol Live police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, and in the morning, police began making house-to-house inquiries.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said two people had been arrested, and were still in custody on Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives were appealing for more witnesses to come forward.

“Police have two suspects in the cells and are appealing for witnesses and information after an aggravated burglary in Salisbury Street, Bristol, in the early hours of Wednesday, May 13,” added the spokesperson.

“Officers were called to the property just after 3am by a witness reporting a burglary in progress.

“On arrival they found the door and window of a flat had been damaged. They arrested two men on suspicion of aggravated burglary. The men remain in police custody at the time of writing.

“A 19-year-old man who had been at the flat at the time was taken to hospital and released after treatment for a head injury,” she added.

Forensic teams have been at the house during the morning.
