One of two teenagers accused of stabbing a 39-year-old to death in a western Sydney home has pleaded guilty to his murder in the NSW Supreme Court.

The male who cannot be named for legal reasons was charged with murdering 39-year-old Kevin Kourtis at a Riverstone home on May 24, 2020.

At least five males fled the scene following reports of a home invasion about 12.30am on a Sunday, according to police.

Two teenagers aged 16 and 17 were later arrested and charged with murder.

Early into the investigation detectives believed the attack was targeted, saying the attackers either knew their victim, or he knew them.

Two women, aged 34 and 43, were also in the home at the time and suffered minor injuries.

The male who pleaded guilty will appear for his sentence hearing at a later date.
