Teen girl saved by her dog when man made 'improper suggestions' then tried to grab her

A teenage girl was saved by her dog after a man made "improper suggestions" and tried to grab her, police have said.

South Wales Police is investigating the suspicious incident in Aberdare that happened in broad daylight.

Officer are investigating reports the the girl was walking on a lane linking Pinecroft Avenue and Werfa Lane in Abernant, near Aberdare, when a male in his late teens tried to grab her.

It is believed the dog then attacked the assailant, who made off from the scene towards the Rhoswennallt Inn.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Tuesday, September 1.

Police said the suspect is described as male, white, around 17 years old, clean-shaven, about five feet seven inches tall, of slim build with brown hair. He was wearing distinctive square-framed glasses and a navy tracksuit.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote reference 2000319421.

A police spokesman said: "The individual himself is also asked to contact the police to account for his actions."
