Teen girl fighting for life after being struck by Audi on Scots road

A teenage girl is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a car in Renfrewshire.

Emergency crews raced to the scene around 9.40pm on Sunday when the 16-year-old was hit by a grey Audi A3 on Beith Road, at its junction with Elm Drive in Johnstone.

Paramedics initially rushed her to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

She has since been transferred to the Royal Hospital for Children, where medical staff describe her condition as critical.

The driver of the Audi was uninjured.

Cops closed the road for several hours amid a probe.

A 23-year-old man was arrested but has since been released, pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Alan Cook said: “I am appealing to people and motorist who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

"In particular, if you have a dash cam device, please check the footage as it could provide vital information for our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Road Policing officers via 101, quoting incident number 3399 of 28 November, 2021
