Teen found with 'Zombie knife' as mass brawl breaks out outside Liverpool City Centre nightclub

A teenager armed with a 'Zombie-style knife' was among fighters taking part in a mass brawl outside a Liverpool nightclub this morning.

Armed police were sent to the scene after the ugly scenes outside Fusion Bar, Fleet Street at 5.40am today.

Police today released a picture of the seized weapon they dubbed a "Zombie style knife".

It came after officers responded to reports "that a 16-year-old boy, armed with a knife, was involved in a fight with a number of other people outside the late opening .

Police confirmed there was nothing to suggest the brawl was linked to the club.

A spokesman said two people have been arrested after violence flared and the "large scale fight" broke out.

A spokesman told the ECHO: "The 16 year old was located and stop checked, where he was found in possession of a ‘Zombie’ style knife (pictured).

"He was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon."

He added: "An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of affray and both were taken to custody for further questioning."

Detectives slammed the "alarming" incident but confirmed nobody was seriously hurt in the shameful street scenes.

Inspector Chris Ruane said “Thankfully no one was seriously injured during this incident but it is extremely alarming for any person, particularly a 16-year-old, to be carrying such a dangerous weapon.

“We need to work with our communities, including parents, siblings and friends as well as partners including schools and social/community groups to educate young people of the dangers of carrying or using these weapons."

He added: "Knives should not be seen as a form of ‘protection’, those in possession of these weapons are more likely to be subject to harm as well as face severe penalties. There is simply no need or excuse.”
