Teen found unconscious at Coatbridge station is 'not suspicious'

A teenage boy found unconscious outside a railway station in Coatbridge has been deemed 'not suspicious' by police.

Cops raced to the scene on Tuesday, February 18 amid reports from locals a 'gang attacked a 13-year-old boy'.

A massive cordon was put in place around the area which centres on Gartsherrie Road at Lamberton’s Engineering and Sunnyside station.

ScotRail were forced to stop services at the station as there was no access for passengers due to the police cordon.

The youngster was found unconscious and rushed to hospital where he is recovering.

Worried locals feared he had been attacked. However, after investigation officers have deemed the incident 'not suspicious'.

A spokeswoman added: "At around 4.20pm on Tuesday February 18 police received a report of a young man being found unconscious in Gartsherrie Road, Coatbridge.

"Emergency services attended.

"He was taken to hospital where he is recovering.

"The circumstances are not deemed suspicious."
