Teen found dead in Greenock flat as police probe unexplained death

Police are probing the 'unexplained' death of a Scots teenager whose body was found in a flat.

Officers were called to Douglas Rae Road in Greenock, Inverclyde, on Sunday afternoon.

The alarm was raised just after 2pm when reports were made of a 'sudden death' at the property.

A 17-year-old woman was found deceased at the scene which, according to the Greenock Telegraph, was inside a flat.

Cops are currently treating the death as unexplained.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a 17-year-old female at a property on Douglas Rae Road in Greenock shortly after 2pm on Sunday, February 20.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
