Teen flasher exposed himself to woman on canal path in Coatbridge

An appeal has been launched after a woman was the victim of an indecent exposure in the Coatbridge area this week.

The incident occurred around 12:45pm yesterday afternoon on a canal path between Carnbroe and Calderbank.

A 24-year-old woman was walking along the canal path when she saw a male youth exposing himself.

The woman ran off and sought help from a cyclist. She has been left badly shaken by the incident.

Police Scotland are now appealing for the public's help to identify the culprit.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid-teens, with blond hair. He was wearing a red hooded top and blue jogging trousers.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Lawrence said: “This area is popular with local people and is often used by walkers and cyclists. I am asking people who were in the area around the time of the incident to think back and consider if they saw this youth.

"Perhaps you saw him and thought nothing of it, but in light of this crime, what you saw could assist our enquiries in identifying and tracing him, so please do get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1663 of 7 July, 2020.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can maintain your anonymity.
