Police on Monday announced charges against a teen in the murder of Luis Davalos-Garcia, 26, in Gage Park. | Sun-Times file

A 17-year-old boy is charged with murder and attempted murder in two separate shootings from this year in Gage Park on the Southwest Side, police said.

The teen, charged as a juvenile, allegedly shot and killed Luis Davalos-Garcia on June 24 in the 5800 block of South Rockwell Street, authorities said. Davalos-Garcia, 26, of Chicago Lawn, died at a hospital later from a gunshot wound to his head.

The teen is also charged in a nonfatal shooting from Nov. 26 in the 3500 block of West 58th Street, police said. He allegedly fired shots about 2:50 p.m. and grazed the head of a 28-year-old man seated in a vehicle. The man was hospitalized in good condition.

The teen was arrested Sunday in the 3500 block of West 58th Place, police said.

He was scheduled to appear in juvenile court later Monday on a charge each of murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
