Teen electrocuted with 25,000 volts after climbing on train to take a selfie

A teenager survived being electrocuted with 25,000 volts after climbing up on to the roof of a freight train to take a selfie.

The 17-year-old clambered up on to the stationary carriage at Altaiskaya station in Russia’s mountainous Altai region.

But he was about to take a picture of himself, he received a massive electric shock from a live cable causing his clothes to catch on fire.

The youngster fell off the train onto the platform before railway staff rushed to help him.

An eyewitness Svetlana Kurochkina said: "One of them jumped off and ran away, the other touched the train's electric wires.

"His T-shirt was in flames and partly his shorts.

He was rushed off to hospital with burns on his back but survived the ordeal (incident22/east2west news)

"He fell down, and was helped to a bench at the station."

The teen suffered visible burns to his back and was rushed to hospital.

According to reports, his rubber shoes helped insulate him from the shock which was said to be between 25,000 to 29,000 volts.

The boy is expected to make a full recovery.
