Teen e-scooter rider left with fractured skull after hit-and-run in Nottingham

An 18-year-old e-scooter rider has suffered a fractured skull after being hit by a car in the middle of the night.

Nottinghamshire Police say the incident, which occurred on Beechdale Road at 12.30am on July 21, involved a Volkswagen Golf.

They described the suspect as a man between 20 and 30, of medium build and just under 6ft tall.

The victim, who also sustained injuries to his leg and ankle, spent two days in hospital before being released.

PC Matthew Hempsall said: “This was a serious incident and it was sheer luck that the victim was not fatally injured."

Nottinghamshire Police are now appealing for help with finding the driver.

“The driver fled the scene and we are now carrying out a range of enquiries to identify the driver and would ask that person – or anybody who knows them – to come forward," PC Hempsall added.

“A number of drivers were in the area at the time so we would also ask anyone with dashcam footage or who saw what happened to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 23 of 21 July. Alternatively, you can pass on information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
