Teen charged with murder after stabbing death in Cairns

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after the death of a 17-year-old boy in Far North Queensland early Saturday morning.

Police were called to a disturbance on the street outside a birthday party in the Cairns suburb of Manoora at 1am on Saturday.

A 17-year-old boy from Mooroobool allegedly suffered stab wounds and was driven to Cairns Hospital in a private car, before authorities arrived at the scene.

He died at the hospital a short time later.

Another 17-year-old boy has been treated for stab wounds in Cairns Hospital.

Late last night, police charged a 14-year-old Edmonton boy with one count of murder.

He's been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court on Monday.
