Teen critical after falling from Perth apartment block

The Mounts Bay Waters Apartment Hotel complex where a boy fell from the fourth floor.

A teenage boy is in a critical condition after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment block in Perth.

Police are investigating the circumstances but think the 16-year-old was with another boy when they went to visit friends who lived at the Mounts Bay Road block.

Officers said the incident happened about 1:30am when the teens could not gain access into the building, so decided to scale the complex.

However, the police spokesman said the pair realised it was the wrong side of the building and started to climb down.

That is when the teenager fell from the fourth floor.

His friend climbed down and ran across the road to nearby police conducting random breath tests and raised the alarm.

The teenager was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

His family has been notified.

Jason, who has owned an apartment at the complex for 12 years, said he could not recall any similar incidents.

"It's very safe, very private. There're not a lot of parties," he said.
