Teen charged with releasing explicit video of Brisbane Broncos player didn't do it, lawyer says

An 18-year-old woman accused of distributing an explicit video involving Brisbane Broncos player Kotoni Staggs wasn't the one who released it publicly, her lawyer says.

McKenzie Robinson was charged last month with distributing a prohibited visual recording after the sensitive video was allegedly released online without Staggs' consent.

Ms Robinson appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning and the matter was adjourned until September 30.

Outside court, Ms Robinson's lawyer Jason Jacobson said his client never intended for the video to be released.

"It was not Ms Robinson that made this private video go public," Mr Jacobson said.

"That was never intended by her and she very much regrets the impact it's caused to Mr Staggs.

"There is an explanation as to how this happened and that will be put to the court at a later date."

Mr Staggs has previously been cleared by the NRL integrity unit and the Brisbane Broncos in relation to the incident.
