Man charged with murdering 18yo former partner north of Brisbane

A 19-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his 18-year-old former partner after the woman's body found in Sunshine Coast bushland early this morning.

It will be alleged the woman, who is from Petrie, met her ex at a car park off Bells Pocket Road in Strathpine at about 4:30pm on Saturday.

Her family called the police at 7pm when she did not return home.

Moreton District Crime Group Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said officers found the man at a service station in Nambour at about 8pm and he was taken into custody.

The woman's body was discovered at about 3am on Sunday morning, in nearby bushland.

"They had been in a relationship that had recently ended," he said.

"The relationship could be described as an intimate relationship. The length of it is still under investigation."

Three crime scenes established

Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said three crime scenes had been established — the car park, the bushland and the service station.

Investigations are underway on where the alleged murder occurred.

Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said there had been no domestic violence orders in place and the former couple had not been in contact with police previously.

He said discussions were underway with the woman's family and friends as to whether there had been any violence in the relationship.

He said the family was devastated.

"They are loving parents and they were concerned for their daughter," he said.

"It's a tragic event, the young lady is 18 years of age and she had her life ahead of her.

"This is a good, young lady, or young person, and this has happened to her."

Detectives want to speak to anyone who saw a white Ford Mustang or a blue Mazda Three near the Rob Akers Sports Reserve at Bells Pocket Road in Strathpine between 4pm and 6pm yesterday.

Both of those cars have been seized for forensic examination.

A post-mortem is being conducted to determine the woman's cause of death.

The man, from Kallangur, was due to appear in court tomorrow charged with murder and misconduct of, or moving, a corpse.
