Teen charged with murder over Sydney hair salon stabbing

The scene outside the hair salon in Bossley Park yesterday.

A teenager has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man who was getting his hair cut in a western Sydney salon.

Fredon Laith Botrus, 18, is accused of walking into Bossley Park's Classico Hair Salon in western Sydney wearing a motorcycle helmet and stabbing the man in the neck and back.

The teenager was arrested at a home on nearby Tallowood Crescent in Bossley Park late yesterday and appeared in Parramatta Bail Court via video link today.

He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

Witnesses said they heard screams from the salon yesterday afternoon moments after the man wearing the helmet walked in.

Four ambulance crews arrived at the scene and the 20-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

He died last night.

A spokesman for NSW Police confirmed the man was having his hair cut when the alleged offender entered the salon and stabbed him in what is being treated as a "targeted" attack.

Police later issued a call for public assistance in the matter.

A strike force has been set up to investigate, and police released a photograph of the accused man on a motorbike.

They called for anyone who saw the rider before or after the alleged murder, or may have dashcam footage, to come forward.

Botrus will appear in Fairfield Local Court on March 13.
