Teen charged with armed robbery after restaurant hold-up

A TEENAGER is in custody, accused of an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in November,

Police moved on the 16-year-old boy on Sunday morning, arresting him at a home in Scone shortly after 9.30am.

Police will allege he was behind an armed hold-up on the night of November 16 in Scone.

Officers claim the teen entered the fast food restaurant on Kelly Street and was wielding a knife.

He's alleged to have threatened a 19-year-old male staff member and demanded cash.

The employee handed over a sum of cash and the offender fled.

IN THE NEWS:

Hunter Valley police were alerted and set up a crime scene at the restaurant which was combed for clues.

Two staff members in the restaurant at the time were not injured, police said.

Investigators made a public appeal for information as part of the police probe, and then pounced on Sunday morning.

The teenager was taken to Muswellbrook police station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail by police and will front a children's court on Monday.
