A 16-year-old has been charged following an alleged child sexual assault at Ali Curung.

A teenager will face court today following the alleged sexual assault of a child on Monday.

The 16-year-old male will appear in Alice Springs Youth Court on a charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

The alleged incident occurred at Ali Curung, a remote community about 170 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek.

No-one else is being sought in relation to the matter.

On Monday, Chief Minister Michael Gunner said additional staff from Territory Families had been deployed to the community.

He said the matter would be referred to the Children's Commissioner for investigation.
