Sept. 28--A Will County teen who appeared in a made-for-TV movie nearly 20 years ago was charged with aggravated driving under the influence after a dirt bike crash Friday that killed his twin brother, police said Monday.
Ross Grskovic, 19, died at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet at 12:13 a.m. Saturday after the accident on Widows Road in unincorporated Wilmington Township, Will County officials said. A preliminary autopsy found Grskovic died from cranial cerebral injuries due to a dirt bike collision, but toxicology reports and police investigation are pending, Will County Chief Deputy Coroner Bob Brenczewski said.
Ross' brother Casey Grskovic, of Wilmington, was released from the hospital Monday morning after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Will County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Rick Ackerson said. He was in the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Monday afternoon awaiting a bond hearing, Ackerson said.
Ackerson said a motorcyclist witnessed the accident Friday evening and performed CPR on Ross Grskovic. When deputies arrived, they found the dirt bikes about 100 yards apart, and the brothers were taken to the hospital.
Casey Grskovic was charged with aggravated DUI, driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed, careless operation of an ATV or off-road motorcycle and driving without lights, Ackerson said.
The brothers shared the part of Baby Tristan in the 1998 TV movie "Since You've Been Gone," starring and directed by David Schwimmer. The movie, about a Chicago-area high school reunion, was filmed in the city.
