Teen charged after pursuit uncovers gun believed to be stolen

A teenager has been arrested following a break-in at a property in the ACT just after midnight on Tuesday.

A Holden R8 utility allegedly stolen from the property was later sighted speeding off along Yass Valley Way, police say.

"A pursuit was initiated, travelling through Goulburn, before hitting a median strip and coming to a stop at the intersection of Kinghorne and Victoria streets.

"The driver - a 17-year-old boy - was arrested following a short foot pursuit and was allegedly in possession of a knife."

According to police, a search of the vehicle uncovered a .22 calibre break-action rifle, reportedly stolen from an ACT property on June 18.

Police say they also located financial cards and personal documents reported stolen from the ACT on Monday.

The vehicle and firearm have been seized to undergo forensic examination.

The teen was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with nine offences.

The Goulburn teen was refused bail and will appear at a children's court on Tuesday.
