A Schoolboy has been arrested after a hedgehog died outside a Scots high school.
A 13-year-old boy has now been charged in connection with 'wildlife crime offences.'
He is the subject of a report to the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration.
It comes after the animal was found at a North Lanarkshire campus in Motherwell on Tuesday sparking a police probe.
The female hedgehog was taken to a nearby vet after the alarm was raised at around at 1.30pm.
It then passed away after allegedly being attacked.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with alleged wildlife crime offences following the death of a hedgehog which had been found injured at a high school in North Lanarkshire on Tuesday, 18 May, 2021.
"He is the subject of a report to the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration."
