A teenager has been charged after crashing into a median strip during an alleged police pursuit on the Central Coast.
Tuggerah Lakes police were patrolling in the San Remo area just before 6.30pm on Friday, May 29, when they saw a vehicle allegedly without registration plates travelling south on the Pacific Highway.
Officers tried to pull the driver over but allege they failed to stop as directed and a pursuit was launched.
Police said the vehicle crashed into a median strip a short distance later and came to a stop at the intersection of Costa Avenue at Charmhaven.
The 19-year-old man police allege was behind the wheel was subjected to roadside testing, which allegedly returned positive results.
He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station, where secondary testing allegedly revealed a blood alcohol reading of 0.062.
The 19-year-old was charged with police pursuit, driving with a cancelled licence, low-range drink-driving, and offences for using an unsafe, unregistered, uninsured vehicle with the tax unpaid on a roadway.
He will face Wyong Local Court next month.
