Teen caught with cocaine during Leeds raid told police it was for his girlfriend

A teenager told police he bought cocaine for his girlfriend and another person.

Police found Deshawn Hendrickson to be in possession of nine wraps of cocaine during the execution of a warrant in Little London, Leeds, on April 5 this year.

The 19-year-old told police he had bought £85 worth of cocaine for his girlfriend and another person.

Andrew Horton, prosecuting, said the defendant's phone was also seized but there was no evidence of dealing.

Leeds Crown Court heard £455 in cash was also seized but Hendrickson said relatives had given him it.

Hendrickson, who is currently serving a two-year sentence in HMP Doncaster for a burglary, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

He has eight previous convictions for 40 offences, but none for drug dealing.

He was sentenced to 12 months' detention in a young offender institution to run concurrently to the sentence he is already serving.
