Teen boy shot, killed in Lawndale backyard: police

A 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Thursday in Lawndale on the West Side, according to police.

About 6:50 p.m., he was in a backyard in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue when shots rang out, Chicago police said.

The teen was hit in the hip and chest, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.
