Teen boy shot dead, girl wounded in Joliet

A teenager was killed and another wounded Sunday in a shooting in southwest suburban Joliet.

The 17-year-old boy and girl were driving with two other people about 3:05 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV began following them, Joliet police said.

The SUV pulled up to them in the 700 block of Palladium Drive East and at least one person inside fired shots, striking the two teenagers, police said.

Authorities arrived and found the boy dead of his injuries, police said. An autopsy found the boy, whose name has not been released, died from multiple gunshot wounds, the Will County coroner’s office said. He lived in Joliet.

The 17-year-old girl was taken in serious condition to St. Joseph Medical Center, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

Joliet police are investigating the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 815-724-3020.
