A 15-year-old boy was seriously wounded Tuesday after being shot in West Lawn on the Southwest Side.

About 12:45 a.m., he was walking in the 7100 block of South Lawndale Avenue when he heard shots and felt a pain, Chicago police said. The boy told police he did not see a shooter or know where the shots came from.

He was struck in the lower back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate the shooting.
