Teen boy rushed to hospital after he was attacked during burglary in Dundalk, Louth

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after he was attacked during an early morning burglary.

The incident took place in the Dublin Road area of Dundalk, Co Louth, at around 1am on Sunday morning.

Two men, both aged in their 20s, have been arrested.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after the two men left the scene with cash and other items.

A garda spokesman said: “At approximately 1am the two men forced entry to the house. They proceeded to assault a resident of the house, a 17 year old male.

“The injured youth was taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries.

“The two men left the scene stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and other items.

“After studying CCTV Gardaí identified the two men and arrested them a short time later.”

The two men are currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing.
