Teen boy rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Dromiskin, Co Louth

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Dromiskin, Co Louth.

The incident happened near the Mooretown area of the village at around 1.50am last night.

The 17-year-old was struck by the vehicle on the R132 road to Castlebellingham.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the youngster was brought Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardai are appealing with anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A spokeswoman said: "At approximately 1.50am on Wednesday, September 16, Gardaí attended at the scene of a serious traffic collision involving a car and a 17-year-old male pedestrian on the R132 at Mooretown near Castlebellingham.

"The 17 year old male was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

"Witnesses are asked to contact Ardee Station on 041 685 3222 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111."
