Teen boy hit by minibus prompting air ambulance response

A teenager was taken to hospital after being hit by a minibus.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were sent to Stamfordham Drive in Garston after the alarm was raised at 4.30pm yesterday (Monday 13).

The 17-year-old boy is reported to have been hit by a Ford Transit minibus, sustaining an injury to his face.

The teenager was taken to hospital and the driver of the minibus stopped at the scene and is said to be helping police with their enquiries.

Witnesses posted footage on Facebook of an air ambulance landing in a nearby field, expressing hopes that the teenager - believed to be a sixth form pupil - was okay.

Merseyside Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were contacted at 4.30pm yesterday, Monday, September 13 following reports of a road traffic collision between a Ford Transit minibus and a 17 year-old male on Stamfordham Drive.

"The teenager was taken to hospital with a facial injury.
