Teen boy dies after being injured at Glasgow High Street station

A teenage boy has died following an incident at High Street station in Glasgow.

We told how police were called to the scene around 3.45pm this afternoon and the station was shut down.

A 14-year-old boy was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident has been described as a “shocking loss” and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

The station remains closed and Scotrail have issued travel advise for passengers on social media.

Detective Inspector Iain Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said: “This has been a shocking loss of a young life and a significant investigation is underway.

“Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Those who were in the area at the time, or have information which may be relevant, can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2280 of Saturday, 16 October.

“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
