A teenager has been arrested following a serious sexual assault in Hamilton in the early hours of this morning.
Officers from Police Scotland received reports of the incident on October 10 and a 16-year-old boy has subsequently been arrested.
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly attacked in a lane between Hamilton West railway station and the Hamilton Accies Football Club stadium.
Investigations into the incident are still being carried out, however cops are still appealing for anyone to come forward with any information they have.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received reports of a serious sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in the area of the lane between Hamilton West and the Hamilton Academicals Football Club, in the early hours of Saturday, 10 October.
“A 16-year-old teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
