A teenager was seriously assaulted during a large-scale disturbance in a Scots square.
Police raced to the Square in Kelso in the Borders in the early hours of Sunday morning following reports of 20 people being gathered there.
They found a 16-year-old boy had suffered serious facial injuries.
He was rushed to the Borders General Hospital where he received treatment.
The incident took place at about 1am on Sunday August 22.
Cops found no signs of a disturbance when they attended the Square but are appealing for help to find out what happened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "From our enquiries so far, we believe that there were up to 20 people involved in this disturbance.
“Officers have spoken to some of those involved but are keen to hear from anyone else who was there or who may have information about what happened.
