It tells the story of three schoolboys from the West Country whose chance discovery of a cache of weapons on a military base puts them in mortal danger. The award-winning author explains how she came to write the novel, and how part of the inspiration for her characters came from the boys her parents fostered on their Somerset farm as she was growing up.
