Teen biker suffers life-changing injuries after crashing into two cars - police are searching for Mercedes driver

A teenager has suffered life-changing injuries after a motorbike crashed with two cars in north Manchester.

Emergency services were called to Cheetham Hill Road on Saturday afternoon to reports of a collision involving two cars and a motorbike at the junction of North Street.

A silver Honda motorbike had been travelling northbound near Manchester Fort shopping centre when it crashed with a blue Ford Focus ST-Line.

The rider of the motorbike, a 19-year-old man, suffered life-changing injuries in the crash.

He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, police confirmed.

The pillion passenger of the bike, also aged 19, suffered minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital.

He has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motorcyclist and is currently in police custody.

Police believe a black Mercedes A Class had been travelling behind the motorbike up Cheetham Hill Road and made off towards Elizabeth Street in a north-westerly direction.

Officers say they are keen to speak to the driver of the Mercedes, and are urging members of the public who may have witnessed the collision or seen a Mercedes matching the description to come forward.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call police on 0161 856 1146 quoting incident number 2013 of 27/03/2021. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
