A mother has shared her daughter's final heartbreaking words to her before she died from an asthma attack.
Aimee Devenney, from Letterkenny, Co Donegal, Ireland, told her mum Michelle 'Mammy I need you to calm me down' when she felt the attack coming on last December.
The 14-year-old rang her mother for help while staying with her grandparents and later collapsed at the scene, the Irish Mirror reports.
She was rushed to hospital however medical staff were not able to save the schoolgirl, despite working on her for two and a half hours.
Michelle told Barrscéalta on RTÉ Raidió that her daughter would sometimes suffer a panic attack when she felt an asthma attack coming on.
Her daughter's request for help was the last time she spoke to her.
The mum explained: “They worked on her for a long time.
"They told me in the hospital that normally they only work on a case like this for twenty minutes, but that they had worked on her for two and a half hours, so I knew they had done everything they possibly could to save her.”
And Michelle said that the family are now determined to honour Aimee's memory - starting a fundraiser for two important charities, with over €19,000 raised so far.
She continued: "We decided to collect money for two charities, the Asthma Society of Ireland, because people don’t know enough about asthma and how dangerous it can be, and Pieta House in Letterkenny.
“Aimee spent some time with them, she suffered a lot with her mental health.

"You would never think it, because she was always so happy go lucky, but they helped her through a really tough time and I’d like to give something back..
The heartbroken mum said her "kind" daughter would be proud of the work her family is now doing in her name.
Michelle added: “She was very good at music and drama, like her grandad. She was very kind and always had a smile on her face.
"She’d be very proud of the work we’re doing to help these charities.”
