Teen attacked and held over wall in 'distressing' video

Distressing footage of a teenager being attacked and then held over a wall is being investigated by police.

Lancashire Police was made aware of footage being shared on social media after a young teenager was attacked and held over a wall in the Concourse area of Skelmersdale on Tuesday, November 23.

Since being made aware police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Skelmersdale in connection with the incident and he remains in custody.

They have also managed to speak to the victim of the attack to 'make sure he is okay'.

Police are now urging people not to share the footage on social media and not to take matters into their own hands.

A spokesperson from Skelmersdale Police said: "We are aware of a distressing video circulating on social media which appears to show a young teenager being assaulted and then held over a wall in the Concourse area of Skelmersdale yesterday.

"We have been carrying out a number of enquiries since this matter was reported to us and we have this evening arrested a 20-year-old man from Skelmersdale in connection with the incident. He is currently in custody.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the others involved.

"We have also identified the victim from this incident and we have visited him to make sure he is okay.

"We appreciate that the content of the video is upsetting and would ask people to refrain from sharing the video or from taking matters into their own hands. Rest assured that we are dealing with it.

"We will update you with any further developments."
