Police are appealing for information following a violent attack in Shotts.
The incident occurred on Station Road at around 10pm on Saturday, and resulted in an 18-year-old man and 21-year-old woman being assaulted.
The victims were walking down the street when a number of youths, who were under the influence of alcohol, began to cause a disturbance.
A glass was thrown at the man and resulted in a cut to his arm, although he didn’t require any further medical attention.
The female victim was verbally abused and then spat on by one of the youths.
Police are keen to trace one woman who will be able to assist them with their enquiries.
The woman is described as being white, around 5ft 6 tall, of slim build and wearing a black top and black trousers.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are keen to hear from everyone in the area regarding the youths involved and in particular the young female in question.”
