A teen has been arrested in connection with the horrific hit-and-run death of Deliveroo cyclist Thiago Cortes.
Thiago, 28, tragically died from injuries sustained after he was knocked down while riding his bike at North Wall Quay in August, Dublin Live reports.
A garda spokesman said: "Today, Friday 6th November 2020, Gardaí arrested a male (aged in his teens) in relation to a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the North Wall Quay area of Dublin City on the 31st August 2020.
"He is currently detained in Store Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"Investigations are ongoing."
The Deliveroo worker had come to Ireland to study for a masters degree and to save money for his wedding to partner Theresa Dontas.
His devastated fiancee had previously said that Thiago convinced her to move to Ireland from Brazil with him to seek out a life with more opportunities.
She told Today with Claire Byrne: "We've been together for over six years. He was the one who wanted to come to Ireland first. He convinced me to come here and I did and I don't regret it at all.
"He wasn't really happy in Brazil and he thought he might get better opportunities.
"He wanted to come here to get a better life. And we were getting that, we had a great life here."
A distraught Theresa also told of how she stayed with Thiago in the Intensive Care Unit where he was being treated until his final moments.
She said: "I got to see him when he was in the Emergency Room and after when he was in the ICU.
"I spent the whole Tuesday there and the night as well until his last moment."
