An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a hit and run on Christmas Day.
Emergency Services were called to Hoylake Road, Birkenhead, at around 12.45pm on December 25 following reports of a collision involving an unknown vehicle and a scrambler bike rider.
The teenage male rider was taken to hospital via air ambulance and received treatment for serious injuries to his leg. He is now said to have "life changing" injuries and remains in hospital.

The driver failed to stop at the scene but a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO today that an 18-year-old was arrested for attempted murder and causing serious injury by driving.
They said: "18-year-old male arrested in connection with this matter for attempted murder and causing serious injury by driving, he has been released on bail for further enquiries.
"The victim remains in hospital with life changing injuries."
Hoylake Road, Ilchester Road and Stanley Road were closed On Christmas Day while the incident was dealt with, and drivers were advised to find an alternative route.
Merseyside Police has previously appealed for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation to come forward.
