A teenage boy was arrested in South Side Bronzeville Tuesday after leading police on a vehicle chase from Gary, Indiana.

Just after noon, the boy, 16, was spotted driving a white Hummer about 60 mph through a residential area near 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street in Gary, the Lake County sheriff’s office said. The boy allegedly fled an attempted traffic stop and drove into Chicago as officers pursued him for over 40 minutes.

The boy allegedly crashed into two vehicles upon entering the city and got out near 36th Street and Michigan Avenue, where he tried to escape into a relative’s home, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested by Chicago police.

The boy remains in custody in Chicago and charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
