Teen arrested after police pursuit ends in crash

A teenage boy has been arrested following a brief high-speed police chase in a suburban Adelaide street, which ended when a stolen ute crashed into a parked car.

Police said the 17-year-old was a passenger in the ute, which a patrol spotted on Angus Avenue at Edwardstown just before midnight.

Police said the driver of the ute, which had a flat tyre, failed to stop after the patrol switched on its flashing lights.

The ute was followed until it crashed into a power pole and a parked car close to a nearby railway crossing.

Three people ran from the vehicle including the 17-year-old from Edwardstown, who was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.

Two other occupants of the ute, which had been stolen from South Plympton earlier in the evening, fled the area.

Police said no-one was injured, but the ute and the parked car both sustained major damage and were towed from the scene.

The teenager has been granted police bail, and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court.
