Teen arrested after gardai seize 2,000 fireworks in Wicklow

A teenager was arrested after gardai seized €5,000 worth of fireworks in Wicklow.

The seizure took place on the Windgates area of Bray at around 3:15 pm on Monday.

Officers discovered 2,000 fireworks during the search.

One male, aged in his late teens, was arrested and then later released without charge pending file to the DPP.

The find came as part of a patrol under Operation Tombola, the gardai's annual Halloween crackdown.

A garda spokesperson said on Twitter: "As part of #OperationTombola, Bray Gardaí seized 2000 fireworks worth approximately €5000 yesterday.

"An Garda Síochána is reminding the public that these items are dangerous and illegal.

"Let's all work together to have a safe and fun Halloween."
