Child arrested after dad-to-be, 20, murdered in stabbing at Ballybough House

A youth has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old, dad-to-be at a Dublin flat complex late last night.

Gardai have launched a murder investigation into the attack which took place at Ballybough House Flat Complex at around 10pm.

Officers rushed to the scene of the serious assault and discovered a young man on the ground with stab wounds.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and he was rushed to the Mater Hospital but he died there a short time later.

It is understood a group of young people were hanging out in the area when a row broke out and the man was fatally stabbed.

One youth has since been arrested by investigating Gardaí and he is currently detained under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station. 

The scene is currently preserved for technical and forensic examination.

The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will take place in due course. 

An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station.
